Supplemental Tutoring hours allow you to receive as much 1-on-1 tutoring support as you need without having to purchase additional Learning Membership hours in advance or increase the number of recurring hours you receive each monthly billing period.
Feel free to book more time with a tutor, tap into Instant Tutoring for that extra homework help, add a new subject to your tutoring routine, or even bring more family members on board. No matter why you're seeking out Supplemental Tutoring hours, we'll simply add the cost for the additional hours to the payment for your next monthly billing period at the same hourly rate as your current Learning Membership plan.
How are fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours calculated?
Fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours are based on the total 1-on-1 tutoring time in excess of your monthly billing period allotment of Learning Membership hours, multiplied by the hourly tutoring rate in your current Learning Membership plan. In other words, your monthly Learning Membership rate per hour multiplied by any additional hours you used that month. When will I be billed?
Fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours are calculated at the end of your current monthly billing period and charged at the beginning of your next monthly billing period. The fee for Supplemental Tutoring hours is combined with the monthly Learning Membership fee in a single credit card transaction. This means that you may see a higher monthly charge to your credit card for the monthly billing period(s) when Supplemental Tutoring hours have been used.

No advanced notice is necessary. Supplemental Tutoring will be billed automatically based on the additional hours used at the end of each monthly membership billing period.
How Learning Memberships work:
When you’re on a Learning Membership plan, tutoring hours will be credited to your account each month consistent with your purchase, and they are valid for that monthly billing cycle. On your billing date each month, your hours refresh with a new balance, and any unused hours from the previous cycle do not roll over. Your balance of hours, usage, and billing date can be found on your Account page.
For example:
If your billing date is the 15th, you’ll receive your new set of hours to use beginning on the 16th of each month. Any unused hours from the previous cycle would not roll over when the new balance of hours is added.

Your unused hours expire at the end of each billing cycle when your new monthly hours are added. We recommend scheduling sessions in advance to make the most of your monthly allocation. You can check your hours' expiration date in your account dashboard

Steps to Adjust Your Plan Online
If you need assistance with adjusting your plan, contact Member Services:
While on pause, you will still have access to on-demand videos, practice materials, and adaptive assessments. However, you will not have access to 1:1 tutoring associated with your membership and live classes. You will be able to use any hours you have on your account until the start of your pause. We will not add any monthly hours to your account during your pause. However, once your membership resumes, you will have full access again.

You can update your default payment method through the payment settings in your Varsity Tutors account by following these steps:
Once your payment method is updated, changes will take effect on the next business day. Any payments due the next business day or thereafter will be processed using your new default payment method (and your prior default payment method will not be charged).

With your learning plan, your low pre-discounted hourly tutoring rate applies to any extra tutoring hours beyond what’s included in your plan.
For example:
This extra fee will be added to your next monthly payment. In this case, your next payment would be $269 + $100.88 = $369.88.
This ensures you’re only charged for the extra hours you use, at the same low rate in your learning plan!
