What if I need help in an additional class or subject?

You can add as many subjects as you need—there’s no limit! Your tutoring hours can be shared across multiple subjects, giving you the flexibility to explore various areas of learning.

How to Add a Subject:

  1. Log in to your Varsity Tutors account.
  2. Go to My Learning Page (the dashboard presented upon logging in).
  3. Select Add a New Subject and search for the subject you need help with.
  4. Choose Match with a Tutor to connect with an expert in that area.

How can I reset my password?
  1. Visit the Varsity Tutors Forgot Password page.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your account.
  3. Click "Send Reset Link."
  4. Check your email for a message with the subject "Varsity Tutors Password Reset" and follow the instructions provided.

If you don't receive the email within a few minutes, please check your spam or junk folder.

How do I find practice problems and other resources?

Practice problems and other study tools/resources can be found within the Practice Hub

To access the Practice Hub:

  1. Log in to your Varsity Tutors account.
  2. Choose the correct student’s profile by clicking on the Initials icon in the top right corner of the My Learning Dashboard, if you have more than one Student on your account.
  3. Select Practice Hub within the left side menu on the My Learning Dashboard.
  4. Select your subject.
  5. Explore different learning modalities such as:
    1. Flashcards
    2. Question of the Day
    3. Diagnostic Assessments
    4. Practice tests
    5. And more!

What is Supplemental Tutoring?

Supplemental Tutoring hours allow you to receive as much 1-on-1 tutoring support as you need without having to purchase additional Learning Membership hours in advance or increase the number of recurring hours you receive each monthly billing period. 

Feel free to book more time with a tutor, tap into Instant Tutoring for that extra homework help, add a new subject to your tutoring routine, or even bring more family members on board. No matter why you're seeking out Supplemental Tutoring hours, we'll simply add the cost for the additional hours to the payment for your next monthly billing period at the same hourly rate as your current Learning Membership plan.

How are fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours calculated?
Fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours are based on the total 1-on-1 tutoring time in excess of your monthly billing period allotment of Learning Membership hours, multiplied by the hourly tutoring rate in your current Learning Membership plan. In other words, your monthly Learning Membership rate per hour multiplied by any additional hours you used that month. When will I be billed? 
Fees for Supplemental Tutoring hours are calculated at the end of your current monthly billing period and charged at the beginning of your next monthly billing period. The fee for Supplemental Tutoring hours is combined with the monthly Learning Membership fee in a single credit card transaction. This means that you may see a higher monthly charge to your credit card for the monthly billing period(s) when Supplemental Tutoring hours have been used.

How do I track my monthly tutoring usage?
You can easily track usage by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Varsity Tutors account.
  2. Click on the dots in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Account. 
  4. Locate the Live Learning box for more details regarding your remaining hours balance.

If I have a Learning Plan, can I use my hours toward Instant Tutoring?

Yes! Your Learning Plan hours can be used for Instant Tutoring, providing the flexibility to get help when you need it most.

How It Works:

  • 15-Minute Increments: Hours are deducted from your account in 15-minute intervals.
  • Flexible Session Lengths: Use Instant Tutoring for a quick 15-minute question or extend your session as long as needed—even up to 3 hours and 45 minutes!

Instant Tutoring is perfect for tackling quick questions, preparing for tests, or diving deeper into complex subjects at your convenience.

If I want to take advantage of Supplemental Tutoring in a specific month, do I need to notify Varsity Tutors in advance?

No advanced notice is necessary. Supplemental Tutoring will be billed automatically based on the additional hours used at the end of each monthly membership billing period.

Do my Learning Membership hours roll over?

How Learning Memberships work:
When you’re on a Learning Membership plan, tutoring hours will be credited to your account each month consistent with your purchase, and they are valid for that monthly billing cycle. On your billing date each month, your hours refresh with a new balance, and any unused hours from the previous cycle do not roll over. Your balance of hours, usage, and billing date can be found on your Account page.

For example:
If your billing date is the 15th, you’ll receive your new set of hours to use beginning on the 16th of each month. Any unused hours from the previous cycle would not roll over when the new balance of hours is added.

Can tutoring hours be used for other members of my family?

Yes, tutoring hours can be shared among members of your household! This flexibility allows multiple students to benefit from personalized tutoring under a single Learning Plan.

Tips for Sharing Hours:

  • Increase Frequency: If multiple family members are using hours, we recommend scheduling up to 8 sessions per month to maintain consistency for everyone.
  • Customize Goals: Each family member can work with their own tutor and focus on their unique learning needs.

Do my tutoring hours expire?

Your unused hours expire at the end of each billing cycle when your new monthly hours are added. We recommend scheduling sessions in advance to make the most of your monthly allocation. You can check your hours' expiration date in your account dashboard

How do I check my remaining tutoring hours?

You can quickly view your balance of tutoring hours by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Varsity Tutors account.
  2. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Account.
  4. The current balance is visible in the “Remaining” field of the “Live Learning – Track your usage and schedule” section of the page.
     

The Account page will also allow you to view:

  • Scheduled Hours
  • Live Classes Signups

Can I use certain parts of my membership while it is paused?

While on pause, you will still have access to on-demand videos, practice materials, and adaptive assessments. However, you will not have access to 1:1 tutoring associated with your membership and live classes. You will be able to use any hours you have on your account until the start of your pause. We will not add any monthly hours to your account during your pause. However, once your membership resumes, you will have full access again.

Can I change the frequency of sessions?

You can use the monthly Learning Membership hours however you choose. We recommend sticking to a steady weekly schedule to see the best results. Your student will benefit most if they are meeting with their tutor consistently.

How do I update my default payment method?

You can update your default payment method through the payment settings in your Varsity Tutors account by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Varsity Tutors account.
  2. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Account.
  4. Select Payment Methods.
  5. Enter your card details under Add new payment method.
  6. Click Add payment method.

Once your payment method is updated, changes will take effect on the next business day. Any payments due the next business day or thereafter will be processed using your new default payment method (and your prior default payment method will not be charged).

Yes, you can request an invoice or receipt by reaching out to our team.

Steps to Request an Invoice:

  • Contact our team through one of the options below.
  • Provide the details needed for your request (e.g., date range, specific transactions).
  • Allow up to 48 hours for processing.

How are supplemental tutoring fees calculated?

With your learning plan, your low pre-discounted hourly tutoring rate applies to any extra tutoring hours beyond what’s included in your plan.

For example:

  • If your plan includes 4 hours of tutoring per month at $269, your hourly rate is $269 ÷ 4 = $67.25.
  • If you use an additional 1.5 hours in a month, the supplemental fee is calculated as 1.5 hours × $67.25 = $100.88.

This extra fee will be added to your next monthly payment. In this case, your next payment would be $269 + $100.88 = $369.88.

This ensures you’re only charged for the extra hours you use, at the same low rate in your learning plan!

What is the refund policy for Learning Membership plans?

Learning Membership plan payments are not eligible for refund, as stated in the Terms of Customer Account Use.
