We use a rigorous process to ensure only the most qualified tutors join our platform. In fact, only the top 15% of applicants are selected to tutor with Varsity Tutors.
Background Check: Every tutor undergoes a thorough background check and is enrolled in an ongoing monitoring program to ensure the highest safety standards.
Video Interview: Tutors complete a video interview, which is reviewed for quality through both AI scoring and human evaluation to identify top candidates.
Subject Expertise Validation: Tutors take assessments to verify their knowledge of specific subjects and age groups, ensuring they are equipped to provide accurate, up-to-date instruction.
Student-Tutor Matching Algorithm: After being approved, tutors are matched with students through an AI-powered algorithm that evaluates over 100 attributes, including learning style, subject needs, and academic goals, to ensure a perfect fit.
Tutors are continuously monitored through session ratings, client feedback, and session notes to maintain the highest quality of instruction.

You can rate your tutor and provide feedback in two ways:

If you are currently engaged with a Tutor and want to schedule a session with that tutor:

Important Note: Sessions that are scheduled to begin within the next 24 hours cannot be rescheduled through your account page on the Platform. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session within 24 hours of its scheduled start time, notify your tutor directly using the Messaging feature through the Platform. We understand that schedules can change. Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tutoring session in order to avoid it being invoiced to your account/deducted from your hours, as more fully described below.
Rescheduling: Regardless of the amount of notice, it is also best to try to reschedule another tutoring session rather than just cancel, so you know when your next scheduled session will occur.

Once you submit your request to replace a tutor, you will no longer be engaged with your current tutor, and a new tutor request will be initiated.

We’re committed to ensuring you have the best possible learning experience. If your tutor isn’t the right fit, or you would like to replace a tutor for any reason, you may do so at any time.
How to Replace a Tutor:
When submitting your request, please provide as much detail as possible about your learning goals and preferences, as well as why you don’t think the tutor was a good fit to help us match you with the ideal tutor. The more information we have, the better the potential match with the new tutor. Our team will reach out if additional information is needed.
